Today was another Thursday. Becca went out tonight and I had an osteo appointment. I describe this because anyone who commutes in the uk will recognize the implausibility of the situation. I stayed late at work, leaving at 7pm, in the light, to get to my &:30 appointment. Becca got a friends nanny to pop round at 6:30. She went out at 7pm I went to the back lady and got home at 8:15, the sitter left and becca came home. Easy and we live in the capital city, it feels like a provincial town. I could actually come home for lunch or even go for a swim!
That is why Auckland has such a high rating in the quality of life stakes.

I'm genuinely pleased for you that you and your family enjoyed a high quality of life in Auckland. But you should be wary of making generalisations - your situation is only possible because you obviously earn a fair whack of money in a professional senior position, you can afford a nanny, you live in a nice area close to the beach, and you have a job that allows you to leave at lunchtime. I lived in Auckland for 6 years as a born and bred Kiwi and most of that time was spent living hand to mouth, barely being able to pay for my WOF, registration, petrol, food and rent. I have a good degree and post-graduate qualifications, but unfortunately I was silly enough to go into the media industry. Auckland can be wonderful for professionals like yourself with sought-after skills, but it can be hell on earth for Mr and Miss Average, espeically if you come from a smaller town and are used to a sense of community. I wouldn't recommend Auckland to anyone to be honest. Move to Aussie instead.
Hi , just for the record no Nanny, no huge whack, we were comfortable but not a lot of cash to spare. We really appreciate what we have, I have worked very hard and still do. I work 20 hour day regularly and occasionally leave early. I have had 4 weeks holiday in the last 4 years.
YOu will find plenty of post where I talk about the draw backs and expense of NZ. I love and appreciate people and tend to see the positive in everything and everyone.Thank you for your good wishes, you have mine in return.
