Hi Peter, I spent 10 minutes today working out if there were 3 or 4 zeros on a new account card I had. I once gave some street traders 10 times the going rate in Spain! They packed up and went home!
Have you ever taken the tests for Irlands? It doesn't involve much reading! It shocked me how little I could see! I also fall asleep when I read to my children I find it so exhausting.
I write for TV I am very good at Mathis and physics. I have read about 30 books in my life, because I get so tired. But I read lord of the rings at 9 and the other 29 or so are all "classic"
I had great teachers others on my class got great English grades. I got great comments for my story's and my spoken vocabulary is well above average.

Dyslexia is a descriptive, not a diagnostic term. I am always bemused by arguments that a person like Kara has never made much progress in reading and spelling because she has dyslexia, and she has dyslexia because assessment shows she doesn't read or spell very well. This circular argument has no diagnostic validity and any implication that dyslexics have some form of neurological damage is mendacious. Either there is some disease-causing agent stalking the land (providing employment opportunities for dyslexia experts) or many children are not being taught to read. In the absence of mental retardation, or visual or severe speech problems, a person has a reading problem simply because she has never been taught to read or has received faulty instruction, ie. the person lacks the ability to decode letters into phonemes and the ability to blend isolated phonemes into words. It is astounding, and reprehensible, that students 'progress' through school without having been taught to read correctly. In the past, when parents assumed responsibility for their children's education, children were taught how to read, not expected to decipher the alphabet code for themselves, which now seems for many to be the case. Today, the education establishment, rather than admit that its incorrect teaching methods are at fault, has invented a brain disorder called dyslexia.

hi this program shocked me so so much because of the way we are so alike everything she was doing i do but never put it down to dyslexia, i got told i had dyslexia when i was about 10 about 18 years ago now,so for the first 6 years in school i was the "lazy boy in class" i hid my dyslexia well through high school(probably not the best idea but it was the only one i had at the time)help classes and a teacher as a scribe was not an option in my school, luckily i was well liked and bullying was not a problem.
i think kara was very brave doing a show like that and it helped me in more ways than i can say cos its nice to know your not the only one thanks, craig.
PS sorry for the big long message its the most typing iv done since school ha.
